If you want the satisfaction

If you want the satisfaction of doing it yourself. Cut through the gimbal, SLOWLY, down to the glass in a spiral direction with a hacksaw. Grab an edge of the gimbal with a good set of pliers and peel the gimbal off the blank. Clean it all up, buy a new gimbal, pack the blank with 1/2 inch masking tape, leaving a gap between the packing. Apply 5 minute araldite and slip the new gimbal on. Line up the slots and set aside to dry. Job done.

or take it to a tackle store

Have a crack yourself. I have

Have a crack yourself. I have just extended 4 rods. Chop the end off with a ha saw, tidy it up and adsl it's a new butt on.

I have a few that are nicknamed Frankenrods, but they are sweet to use with a custom butt length to my liking.

Thanks guys,

unfortunately oceanside is a fair old drive (done it a few times). I might give this a go myself. What can go wrong.

Where do you buy the rod butts from? I had a quick squiz on google and it isnt helping me.

Im north of the rover, but will head down to Bluewater and buy a replacement butt.

Sounds easy enough to do.

Wouldn't use 5 minute araldite on a gimbal
