Bunbury mulloway run

 Hi guys

I have been thinking of trying for some mulloway in Bunbury l am just wondering if it is to late for Bunbury and l will have to head down to Busselton jetty and are there any mulloway coming from the collie river or the Bunbury Shipping channel

all i have caught so far is

all i have caught so far is small mulloway in sheltered water. this was about a month ago. when the rain starts it should bring them out of the river into the ocean. busselton jetty is better in early winter-early spring, trumpeters are good livies apparently and fresh squid will be a win also. i dont care what time of year it is...a mulloway is a mulloway in my books.

i heard reports of mulloway being caught down past dalyellup about 2 months ago, and salmon 2 weeks ago..it might be too late but you never know?

Yes well,

personally been extremely busy with work this season (vineyards) along with having alot of tough luck with the weather when the opportunities arise.

Still been getting into a few Salmon around the traps though

On the Mulloway/Snapper front I personally fish the stormy/windy/dirty water conditions to maximise my chances. Which is something we havn't really had yet.

Its certainly not a secret around here anymore with up to 20-30 fishos lined up at one of the more reputable spots. Not to mention the jetty.

Bring on the cold fronts and dirty water!

Old Cut

Try the Old Cut from about an hour after dark to past midnight on a run out tide. Trick is to only cast out far enough so you don't snag up on the rocks because they are literally at you feet not out in the middle

Old Cut

No secret on where the Old Cut is, been there for about 55 years and hasn't moved since the south groyne went in in mid seventies.

Take the old road from Bunbury to Eaton / Australind and turn left at the inner harbour entrance then the next right and follow the road, turning right to pass in front of the houses at Pelican Point then follow the road till it ends in the carpark.

if its what im thinking

Mon, 2015-04-20 21:45

if its what im thinking of...that is 'the cut'? ends up in a gravel carpark with a boat ramp that enters the inlet- which is before the final hard left turn to get to the carpark... where there is beach access to the left that goes almost competely to the inner harbour (port). on the other side of the inlet is belvidere beach?
