Busso Bread & Butter

Day 1 of 6 glorious weeks of long service leave starts today and we're heading down to Busso for a week Sunday with a fair old swell rolling through so most likely going to stay inside the bay and concentrate on getting the kids onto some squid etc and hitup the 4 Mile but have the KGs moved into the shallow sand patches yet? Used to get them in the middle of summer in my uncle's dinghy in the 90s but just can't find them these days.
Cheers JF

I usually mark the sand holes during summer and fish them this time of year. The sand holes are sometimes hard to find this time of year due to dirty water. Definately early in the morning is the time to target them. Heaps of squid in the bay at the moment, I'm sold on the duo jigs, one after the other. Plenty of big snapper in close too, and I mean in close. Good luck.

Squid are pretty good size with the smaller ones sent over as livies for the pinks.

Yeah pretty good. Thinking
Yeah pretty good. Thinking off heading down that way next week if the weather holds out. A mate off mine has a block out about 15 Kay’s out of Busso which we camp on.

Cheers Choc, I was hoping you'd pop up in the thread with a local report. Bit hamstrung with snapper fishing atm as I have had to take my lights down and can only anchor up during daylight hours but might inch out of the bay to see if I can find anything in the 30s on the drift if the weather allows.

I used to head out from Port Geo and track slightly to the right, so by the time your out about 3ks, you should be out in front of Wonnerup and in 40-50 feet. Work the sand areas between the weed, if they are about, you’ll get 3 or 4 pretty quick and then move to another spot, also if the trumps are there, move again also. They were usually 40cm + specimens.

Cheers Dale, I get the feeling Abbey is going to covered with sand so will likely be launching from Port Geo. Not that much further from there to Forrest Beach if I want to try find some shallow water dhus too
