Good to hear
I'm going tomorrow evening for a look around. Has it got hand rails both sides the whole length of the jetty? I hope not.

Nah there are only hand rails
Nah there are only hand rails on both side of the new sections of the jetty. They have intergrated some of the older(1990's) concrete sections into the new parts, those parts are still only hand rails on the western side.
Will make it a little harder in winter now for chasing mulloway with handlines, with the rail on the eastern side of the first half jetty. Oh well i guess now no uncoordinated tourists will fall off those sections.

The whole
point was to have the train, that's why they widened it. Heading there this arvo so i'll let you know the charge, should be free for rate payers but that's another story.

Well,
some of us locals get a little bored sitting in our cars and waiting for the shop to close before we go out. Would be nice to just cruise out there whenever we want.

Busso Jetty
I'm heading down south this weekend and hoping to wet a line Sat night.
Anyone heard if there are any Bonito around?
Also prob baitcast some mulies or throw around some metals for Tailor if any are around. Will report back if anything is of note.
Cheers

Havn't heard about
any Bonito at this stage, would love to hear if you get any. There seems to be millions of Herring around, though I think they'll slow once they fill up on all the berley been used. There's also quite a few Tailor out near the end, just watch the size.

have they opened the
have they opened the underwater obsevratry agin
every time i got he kids ask about it and its closed seems like it was a waste off money if its never opened
getting the bottom line final answer from a bunch of blokes that use false names and put smiley faces at the end of paragraphs is not the best place in the world to get the information you seek.

Sorry if I'm slightly
Sorry if I'm slightly hijacking this thread but I'm going there for the first time next week. Do I need a gaff/net? Which is preferred and how long will they need to be? I have no idea the distance from the water to the jetty.
Thanks.

depends
depends what you want to catch. I take a flying gaff with about 5m of rope. Its about 3m to the water i guess.

Yep,
on the money there mate. At this time of year I'd be impressed if you catch anything that requires gaffing. Sambo's are always a possibility along with YTK out near the end but it's in winter when threal action happens. Mulloway

Report
Just a quick report on Sat arvo/evening headed out toward the end and it was blowing a gale. Few shit fish around (Wrasse, Trumpeter etc) and got a couple Tailor that went 34cm, 37cm and 39cm. Caught on Halco Twisty. All fish released to fatten and size up. Wind was unbearable for the Mrs so we packed it in after an hour or so. Still good fun! Nothing touched my balloon rig.
A mate went out the Sat morning with his Mrs and ran into some guys who absolutely cleaned up from the Fri night. They did a whole night session 6pm - 9am. Caught 50-60cm Tailor (maybe 5 or so) Heaps of Squid and Herring and were pretty chuffed. If your FW members please confirm.
Also to the douchbags that were catching the Trumpeter and stepping on them to take the hook out please take a little more care! They aint gonna bite just handle them with wet hands and comfort lift.
Will be back out in a few weeks so looking forward to getting stuck in again and for a longer period next time.
Cheers
