That will catch fish with swiffel and hooks attached!

Next could be some broomsticks, wire, creative paint and swivel/hook to make some poppers!

It is very pleasing to see that members are having a go at making their own fishing gear tackle and others are giving valuable tips on how to improve it!

This is what this forum is all about

If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

In my college days in Tassie, we used to swipe the cutlery (forks and spoons mainly) and make slices out of the handles - used to catch heaps of salmon + jack mackerel on them - and cheap :)

I used to use spoons

as molds to make spoon sinkers when I was kid.  As a note to others don't use silver spoons, the lead fuses solid in the spoon.

the idea of all chrome luers

Wed, 2012-02-15 10:26

the idea of all chrome luers and slices was originally from the use of spoons and knives chopped up (knife jigs), and so its nothing new folks, :)

Of course

Of course it's not new 499 , but in reality what is ? Most fishing lures and technique's have all been done before, they just get refined over the years.

For guy's our age we were lucky to see our father's (grandfathers) make alot of there own gear and i still use these skills i learn't.

For a young member to see a thread and make something from scratch is great to see and i hope to read more threads like this .
