Canning River bull sharks?

One of my aims this year is to catch a shark out of the Canning, just wondering if anyone has ever tried up near Riverton, or wether I am wasting my time having a go that far up. Not after monsters, just curious how far up they get.    Cheers,     Paul

I reckon you'd be in for a fairly realistic chance during summer if you're prepared to put in the hours. I'd be chucking a line off the shore at Shelley bridge using a decent slab of Mullet as bait with a short length of wire attached to a couple of 7/0 or 8/0's :)

Hey buddy, I have been offline for awhile now, best bet is around canning bridge if you actually want to catch one, I have not seen them much further up the river than Mt Henry Bridge, there is nothing further upstream for them to eat and the water gets much too shallow. I would burley up at Mt Henry in a little dinghy or even off the bridge, you have a chance of getting a mulloway too. If there are lots and lots of baitfish further up then it might be worth a chance but seriously, I wouldnt waste my time any further up than Salter Point if you realistically want to catch one.

In Feb or March even April I think would be the best time... Thats when the bream bite best around the bridge and right up to the kent st weir. It seems there are lots of bony herring around. I have had dolphins check me out ob the yak under the pipeline before :)
