Some slides made up so far - vary between 40cm & 60cm in length and hook sizes between 6 and 12.

nice work mate. Love the look of those sinkers as well.
I'm upping the size of my baits this year, no more mucking around with the little bronzies, just one good size shark thats all I need this summer!

Impressive mate
I had RAGBAG here for a beer today and he showed me how this all works. You guys are certainly serious about what you do and how you prepare. More of us should take notice.

Slide clips
The slide clips are South African made, if you cannot find them locally these guys have them www.fishingtackle.co.za. With the exchange rate
it works out pretty cheap.

Had a look at the new richter slides recently. 1.8mm spring steel, up to 1oz sinker attached, bead to stop the springs compressing and a decent swivel. Looks the goods!!
The fishing shop are gonna be stocking them but dont know if they are in yet.

hey mate, have a search
hey mate, have a search through fishwrecked, has been explained a few times on here. If you cant find anything pm me and I'll send you some links.
I'm not sure what you mean by 2 connecting points unless you are talking about the stopper ring as well as the slide?
Kinda a shame the guys at the tackle shop couldnt explain it, good advice and customer service is the only thing that can help keep local stores in business.

yeah was pretty ordinary asked him about it and he said no and when i told him i found them he looked gob smacked and reckons hes never heard of them so not sure about that.... they are richter slides they have the coil with a ss ring and swivel where the coil is and further along the neck they have another swivel... hope that helps?

Oh right yep, the second ring
Oh right yep, the second ring and swivel near the coils needs to be removed and becomes the stopper at the end of your line.

Slide baiting is great you
Slide baiting is great you can do it anywhere from the shore.I am in Bunbury and they sell them in the tackle stores here and i slide bait off the busso jetty and hook some good sambos because you can get the bait in the right column of water and it works great off the rocks to

The bottom one is the new richter slide with a 20/0 eagle claw circle. Have a nice big tuna head ready to go on it and theres a tiger out there with my name on it. Serviced my reel and put new backing on today, tomorrow night its game on!

Interested in how that richter slide go's on a big fish ..... there is going to be a lot of pressure put on that bottom clip - would of preferred a weld .
Hopefully u get to land that bus mate ...... looking forward to some pics .

There supposed to be stronger
There supposed to be stronger without a weld as heating ss detempers it and makes it softer. Its what I found anyway.

the old richter ones bent
the old richter ones bent apart at the clip, after seeing that I stuck to welded joins but the steel is pretty thick on the new ones so hopefully they are up to the job

fair call
Just from my experience aswell as the boys I used to fish with back in south Africa , we started using non return slides 05/06 when they first started coming out .
When they first came out , there was no bead inserted nor the extra weight , today's ones are a lot stronger and a better quality steel.
Through out the yrs of using them the ss weld has never failed me before or have I ever heard of it opening , we've pulled a lot of fish over the 100kg plus a few over the 200kg mark .
The only part of the slide that used to fail was the section under the slide , before the bead was put in to stop the wire from stretching and un - clipping ...... fish gone .
Very keen to try one of these new slides out , 1.8mm is very strong steel ..... would love to go against a 200kg smooth ray and see how it holds up .

Nice looking slides there
Nice looking slides there Adam, should get together sometime - also going late arvo / tonight to a beach NOR - putting out bait at about 430pm / 5pm, high tide at about 10pm - let it soak a while - hopefully will get stretched tonight.
(You def one up with that tuna head, better stand close to your rod ha ha - I will be contacting some fishmarkets in the new year to see where we can buy some bulk big bait fish.)

Any demos ya need go pop in
Any demos ya need go pop in to ranger camping in ozzy park. Ask for Joe Pulella he is the guro on this. He introduced me to slide baiting with this setup near on 10 years ago.If it comes from South Africa he is the first to have it! This is not a new technique of fishing but its about time its catching on. I havent beached fished in over 7 years but sliding big baits on an Alvey is a sure way to have fun. Yeah i loved my Alveys. If ya know how to cast em you can chuck the biggest weight a country mile!

Why the skirts?
Why do you guys do this to me? Now I have to go and buy skirts and go out tonight and try them to see if they make a difference he he.
Can see them beeing good on the deadbaits with extra flash and movement in the water, but doesn't it just get in the way and tire out the livies more quickly?

Ha Ha - they look good; dont
Ha Ha - they look good; dont they - spot on with the dead baits knigit - I dont use skirts with my livies - theres enough action with the livies that will entice predators IMO.
