Caped Crusaders
It's been tough going of late to hit the water with work etc. but recently I have been able to put some hours in with MattMiller in some very trying conditions. We have been searching for a dedicated Sambo jigging spot & on the way out 2 days ago we hit a lump whilst on the move & luckily decided to hit it up, that brief session was hectic with YTK's smashing us on light gear & staying well clear of the heavy. Matt almost boated a beauty but it wasn't to be so sadly no pics.
Today we headed out with my old boy in shite weather, after some messing around we decided to have a jig at the spot & it was on! Matt was killing the Sambo's & whilst I got into the YTK's & the old boy watched on as a novice to jigging let alone much fishing.
It took him one drop to get into & he took YTK line honours today with the most boated, he also provided much amusement for Matt & myself when i cranked up the drag on the Stella & gave it back to him none the wiser hehehehe. Unfortunately didn't get any pics of Matt's Sambo's but he was slaying it & did very well on them with a switch to some light gear punishment.
I was decided to have a break from jigging at the end of our drift and chucked out a McArthy on the pe 1.5 for this dhuie to give me some serious stick. Good day out in shit wind & just stoked to have a fish with my old man.
Better pic at home

Great dhu there Lamby,
Great dhu there Lamby, especially on the light gear. Always makes it more fun when you have to work to get the fish, all the while worrying they'll burry you :p.
Sounds like you have some pretty good YTK spots too. Might have to come down one weekend soon.

Nice one, Lamby!
Nothing like some great artificial action, and well done on putting the old man onto jigging! Have you had much luck with the dhuies on metal jigs down there?

Cheers, guys the old boy has been stoked but feeling some 'stella love pain' this morning hehe. We have been picking up dhuies when we get wide Hansie, if the crew are keen to brave some high winds in the morning. John I have mainly been using McArthy's lately as my jigger is out of action with a busted guide but the IMA RO & Caprice Kids have been good for me so far.
Pretty happy to have a dedicated jigging lump for YTK & Sambo's!

Fun day out mate
was very interesting getting smashed by that 25knt Ely first up but we got there in the end. Shame those Dhuie pics turned out shit, have to bring a proper camera next time hey Was a pretty fat boy that one.
Lets hope those YTK's and Sambo's hold on that lump year round, and the odd Dhuie. Certainly looks the goods on the sounder.

yeah loving the mcarthy's brendan just need to dave to stock them so the missus isn't suss on my visits to oceanside! Dhuie came near the lump Steve, the ground tapers off to the western side with what appears to be hard coral. Had the interference down very low to pick the ground out but the schools on top were bloody thick with ytk & sambo's by the looks, lots of life around there. Just need to get you & the boys down for a day out on the water then sauce afterwards buddy!!
Need to pack the camera (along with my sinkers) aye Matt hehe

I been getting Honsu to post them down. They weigh next to nothing so postage is cheap and they are usually at your door the following day after ordering them.

No scent on the McArthy's & as to preference you will find each person has their own for dhuies. For me I do like baby elf's, olive pearl & the dhuie was caught on a 6 inch pearl paddletail as Honsu ran out of my fav's but can't knock this one
