Well done, what a great silver perch it looks like you have discovered your own private fishing hole for those days when it's not to good fishing from the local beaches. It just goes to show how little we know about what resides in those lakes so close to our homes and what surprises there can be in them.
I'am getting the strong feeling that certain people have had enough of the negativity from the water authority about stocking Australian natives in water ways that there may be, or has been a bit of mid night stocking going on, on the quiet, and all of a sudden the results of this activity are starting to come out from the shadows.
Kingfisha wanna go on Friday afternoon, saturday all day, and Sunday afternoon? I really want to go, my parents would stay there with me. Idk but I might drop a net for gilgies, my dad used to live way out in the country and had dams holding them and he said they tasted awesome. Those are good sized carp and that's the biggest silver perch I've seen but it says they get to 8kg. But I think the page musut have gotten it wrong because that's the biggest silver perch I've ever seen by far. I know where it is but not telling, do you guys think spinning 5cm hard bodies and a few softies with 4lb braid and 8lb leader and a 2-4kg rod would handle something like that perch? I can't wait to get the noodle rod on those fish aswell it will look so cool if I get a fish like that!
great catches, just a heads up the opera house trap in the first photo is totally illegal in wa (correct me if im wrong). also don't get caught haha, Im pretty sure your not really supposed to fish in lakes like that. But your doing no harm. So unless a little suburb warrior rings up the ranges and dobs, youll be right.
Might have to go have a peek in some of the lakes around me!!
i am defently going again and i will invite u lachie. i relesed to carp cos there is no native fish in there and the carp arent bothering anyone so i relesed them. who can i talk to to see if this is a record? thanks
Be careful to keep your pond a secret as by going on what happened recently with Fisheries and Murdoch Uni boys unneccessarily killing that Murray Cod in Canningvale you dont want them coming around and electrofishing your secret lake. Its looking like the Perth lakes are turning up some great fishing lately.
Awesome fellas!! I do it all the time but just be carefull you can get fined by the coucil for fishing in lakes.. F&@ked if I know why it's a problem but guess we just arnt aloud to have fun in Perth!! To many do gooders dobbing on people.. Well done on the perch mate it's an absolute cracker!!
And on the records mate if you have kept it pm me and I'll help you claim it.. If you haven't kept it bad luck cos you need official weights and lengths..
Sorry mate.. Awesome fish but records are very strict and you need several lengths and a weight on certified scales.. If you catch him again keep him and let me know I'll suss it for ya..
Nice work mate! You have now told everyone kingfisha's favourite new spot, it may get fished out, someone's gonna go there for sure and try catch the perch. That sorta stuff really pisses me off, edit your comment
oh lachie, you both take pictures without editing, you both ask OTHER MEMBERS for there spots in an open forum and you both ark up when someone questions your spot. come on champ google earth is anyones friend. if you ask for a spot then you should give a spot but personally a pond on council land were people feed ducks and fish is not my idea of fishing. good luck with people giving spots if this is your attitude
We don't edit, that doesn't mean tell everyone who doesn't know where it is. And if they find it on google earth, it doesn't matter because that means that they put time and effort into their fishing and it will pay off. We ask others for their spots in open forums, they can choose to reply and tell us where it is, or they can say they don't want to say. Kingfisha and I both respect that. When someone questions our spot it is annoying because Kingfisha usually says please don't tell where the spot is, and they end up doing it. They could always pm and we will reply. Fishing at the lake may not be your idea of fishing but Kingfisha is not you and may enjoy it. you should respect Kingfisha because he and I both have never been rude to you
Didn't say that it was a pm, I said they could pm. U weren't being rude, but I don't believe I have a bad attitude and I was a bit angry that u thought I had an attitude for a second, I was so close to saying something that I would have really regretted
Sorry to everybody who I may have offended. Earlier I was in an angry and now after looking back at my posts, I believe that I was being silly and that it was uncalled for what I said.
Well done KF1, and as for jagging, you are not allowed to jag fish intentionally except for the 31st December, which is known as jagging day. Yeah before u sent that, I have sent 2 pm's saying srry to them. It was a bit of a "angry in the moment" thing then I read it all over again and it was making a mountain over a molehill u know what I mean
You are not going to get any help from people on this forum if you write like that, mate.
It is a public forum, and you post unedited photos of it. Acouple of days after an article in a state wide publication about it! Of course someone will recognise it and add to the conversation about it.
Speaking from experience, and as one who joined an Internet forum in my teens and made a right arse of myself, be polite, tactful and respectful. No one likes an smart arse, especially a young one.
You shoulda just played along like it wasnt your spot, that you had never heard of it, most of us would none the wiser. I do it on here all the time haha ;)
Now that I know that it is your spot im going there all the time im gonna rape and pillage the joint

Aren't carp considered pests and should be "destroyed" on capture and not released back?

You are not going to get any
You are not going to get any help from people on this forum if you write like that, mate.
