Carp/Koi
Just thought as there have been a few posts in the past about fishing for feral Carp/Koi in the Metro lakes that someone might actually be going after them. What i would like is if someone actually caught some that were decent sized i was wondering if you could keep them alive and i could grab them off you.
Sound strange you ask? Well sort of. What i actually use them for is to eat the millions of tiny aquatic snails that reproduce like rabbits in my very large fish tank. The other fish in there dont eat them, and its near impossible to get rid of them by hand. What i have done in the past is throw a carp in their for a few days and he eats most of them. Then back to the goldfish pond for him. Biological solution! Usually only have to put him in the big tank once every three months.
My carp recently died though(he was given to me by a friend that caught him) and having a look at the price of purchasing a decent sized Koi(has to be decent sized so it doesnt get eaten by the other fish, so goldfish are to small) is quiet a costly venture. Would be happy to pay a bounty for the pests.
Cheers Buz.

Cheers wopjrb, might have to
Cheers wopjrb, might have to venture down there for a recce sometime this week after work, as i understand it is a big lake there, so might be difficult to locate the fish, any recommendations on what araes of the lake e.g north shore or south shore? Oh yeah and which lake in Ballajura, there seems to be four?
Ideally i wanted someone else to catch me a feral koi/carp, but i guess if no one is going for them might have to go hunting them myself.

Burley them up
Just pick a deep spot and burley it for a few days before fishing it - easy - or fish the small most easterly lake at the Reserve in Canning Vale - much easier water to target and at least three that I have seen very large koi in residence - evening is the best time but enjoy the mossies
