caught of derby jetty this morning - ID?

 hows it going peeps. fishing this morning off derby jetty. got 2 of these, put them back though. both around 2 kg mark and 40 cm ish long. they have an underslung mouth like a blue salmon and body almost like a little mulloway. golden grunter? cant find it fish book. golder in colour than picture shows. eating quality? nice fat fillets on it by looks and legal size. much appreciated.

 i thought the same at first too. but head seems wrong and smaller ones like that normally have some black spots on them.

There was a species like this in Broome creeks that I heard about never saw or caught. They are similar to Black Jew or Mulloway but not . Someone will tell us what they are Im sure.

 best i heard so far is a river jew johnius borneensis. only thing is they only grow to about 20 cm or so, so could have a potential world record on my hands hey! haha
