Nice work mate, you guys smashed it! So are you really good at holding your breath or were they fairly shallow haha. Think I'm gonna have to give free diving for them a crack this year!

These guys were in depths

Wed, 2013-10-16 16:14

These guys were in depths ranging from 3m to 8m......have looped crays freediving at 16m so the shallower the better!  :)

Been spearing for a few years now so the breathhold is getting better

Spangled Emperor

Wed, 2013-10-16 23:01

Not the first.  Guy in our Club came in with a photo of one caught off Ocean Reef on Sunday.  It was undersize, so released, but it was definately a Spangled.

My in laws caught 3 blue lined emperors in 30m off Hillarys the other day.  2 were legal size but they released all.

I've been fishing for 25 odd

Thu, 2013-10-17 15:46

I've been fishing for 25 odd years, spearing for around 5 years. I'm pretty sure I know a spangled when I see one. Also, my dive buddies saw them and confirmed my sighting also.

You're on the money

Fri, 2013-10-18 15:59

You're on the money Notorious. There's been undersize spangleds hanging around the east end of Rotto all winter. I saw a couple yesterday while chasing KGW around.
