Please let anyone you know that uses the place, that I have found used hypodermic needles in the past couple of days, simply dumped/ left lying around on the sandy beaches in the Narrows area, lot of kids play, swim, fish there. Past it on. Ta

Low act from these people who should know better
Fortunately low risk.
HIV is a very fragile virus and doesnt survive long in a discarded needle/syringe. Chances even if the "junky" has it is very very remote.
Not the same with Hepatitis B and C. They can survive for some time. And if a needle stick happens it is best to get to a doc and let them sort it out. Perhaps some preventative HepB treatment and vaccination. Hep C not so easy, but it can be eradicated from the body with treatment.
Still a dog act IMO.

Totally second what Crasny1
Totally second what Crasny1 says. With needle stick injuries its better to go to the ED of the major hospitals rather than your GP/doctor. They will call the appropriate oncall medical staff to treat this quickly.
What is also important is if that was the case to get an unfortunate needlestick is to also bring the "weapon" with you (make sure its not going to harm anybody further). They can test it for residual viruses.

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.
