Rod Advice
Submitted by Pembo on Sun, 2013-04-28 18:04
I just bought a new Penn Prevail beach rod. I have taken it home and when I put it together i can't get the male ferrule to completely insert so the joint is flush. The male ferrule is about 100mm long and when I try and join it there is still about 15mm that won't insert itself. I have tried parrafin to lubricate but to no avail.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.
That seems really wierd but I guess if that is the way it is made then I don't need to be concerned about it being a weak point. I was tempted to cut off the excess but I didn't want to void the warranty.

Next time you're in your
Next time you're in your local take a look at the rods on the rack and see how a lot of the joins are made

Over time, putting the rod
Over time, putting the rod together and pulling it apart wears a away the graphite. There made like that so if a few years they still fit together, 15mm will turn into 10mm. If they joined flush it would eventually be a loose fit... So I've been told.
