Cervantes fishing

Hi people, I'm going up to Cervantes this weekend (never been that far north yet ) and was wondering what the fishing is like off the beach, and if it is better to go North or South of the town, and what times are best, morning or evening? We will be staying at the caravan park with the family.
I don't need all the fishing secrets that all of you hold so dear to your heart just a couple of pointers !!
Thanks
Mick

best tip i could give you is
best tip i could give you is when you cast your line out , point it in the westward direction so it lands in the water .
Seriously, i have heard of tailor being caught along with the usual herring and others. good luck and have fun

Jetty
Try the big cray jetty late afternoon after all the boats have come in, it usually turns up a feed or two and then you can cast every direction except due east!!!

the jetty also turns up some
the jetty also turns up some good squid as well, try fishing under the lights.
the main beach is great in the afternoon with tailor, herring and snook, you will see the dropoff from the sand and just cast past there, there is always something around to have a go at.
small poppers off the beach in the morning is also great fun! and if you really want to get stretched, put out a herring frame on the big gear after dark and hold on!!!! big car bonnet size rays up that way!

Appreciate the advice guys, will give it a go and let you know, maybe even give the rays a go, I haven't had a good fight with a freight train in a while, last time was at Ocean Reef Marina about 2 months ago!
