Cervantes trip
Submitted by buddharock on Fri, 2014-08-29 20:03
Hi guys, planning my first trip fishing out of Cervantes for mid October, just before the ban. Taking a 4wd and my bayhunter, hoping to get onto some good weather and quality fish. Have a basic plan but any tips and advice would be welcome.
Thanks

Apparently...
...there's a healthy bommie out the front of the ramp...took out a mate's prop/gearbox the first (and last) time he launched there...

Didn't think there was a ramp, thought it was a beach launch. Have read about the bombie on another site and will check it out.

We found lots of good fish just behind the reef edge earlier in the year. Pinkies, dhuies, baldies, tuna, mackerel, sambos and yellowtail kings mostly. Fishing in 10-18m depth. We headed south from the channel

just be aware
walk the area first where you plan to launch ,if it feels spongy , then theres weed under covered over with sand .i got stuck while retriving, water in the cab, got help from 4x4 with snatch strap didnt even budge , if not for a local with tractor then i would have lost my vehicle .took me ages to wash down and get all the sand out of the brake pads .best of luck safe boating & will look forward to pictures of your catch.

We went late summer, sand was rock hard, could've launched our boat with a 2wd no dramas. Wouldn't expect it to be anything like that now though
