Why do we not have anodes on trailers

Why do we not have sacrificial anodes on our boat trailers?
just been looking at mine and there is a zinc coated plate with the Carlisle breakaway system and that has rusted up something bad. The trailer section where it is has no corrosion ?
Would they reduce the corrosion on trailers ?

mate, to be honest im a year 11 physics student, from what ive learnt, the reasons trailers corrode is because the coating (zinc or something I assume) reacts with the salt water, and is corroded away. An anode when being sacrificed is a more reactive metal than the metal you are protecting, so the reaction will take place with the anode over the other metal. A sacrificial anode will probably work, but in reality it will not fully protect the trailer. Its probably best to wash the trailer down thoroughly and renew the anti-corrosion every couple years.
Fishing and catching are two different things. But i want to learn how to catch.

From year 8 physics we did a unit on corrosion and you either galvanise, alloy or paint over the pure metal. The salt water slowly corrodes the iron away into the brownish metal that we know as rust.
to stop the corrosion yourself you could paint over its nothing else you could really do. Apart from what they say on other comments

My understanding is an anode
My understanding is an anode will only be of benefit whilst in the water (electrolyte) which for a trailer is only a short time, this has more to do with electrolysis/corrosion than rust, rust on the other hand can occur out of the water, The anodes on your motor is protecting against corrosion rather than rust.
Also assuming your trailer is galvanised the gal is basically works as an anode and deteriorates before/protecting the steel.
someone with more knowledge may be able to confirm this

Thats why you galvanise trailers
Galvanising = zinc
Anode = zinc
The Zinc coating is the anode
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Kill rust
I've got a 6 year old trailer that looks new thanks to many coatings of Kill rust in the colour aluminium. Not a speck of rust on the frame, some on the axle but FA really, Great stuff. Camper trailer also coated and no rust even after many k's of gravel. Touches up really easy once a year, takes about 4 beers ( would be quicker but I have to take the dust mask off to drink the beers).
