Back on the Water!

For various reasons, (including modifying my dash to fit a larger chartplotter) I haven't hit the water since August and made it out for a few trips in the inlet at Denmark to test out the newly installed HDS9.

Bloody awesome fun pulling in pinkies in 3m but just couldn't land a flattie despite hitting 3 honey holes!

Gotta be happy with that Frosty. Beats bashing out deep for bigger ones IMO.

 aaaaand back off the

Sun, 2025-02-02 16:11

 aaaaand back off the water!

Blew a tyre in North Bannister and changed the tyre is a dicey spot with my son being spotter in my high vis and my daughter in the car in 43c.

Started driving off slowly only to see the spare tyre start smoking and the wheel well was sitting on the tyre. Spent the 2 hours jacking it up, taking putting tools under the frame to keep the wheel well high enough to keep testing and checking to  limp home.

Haven't had a proper look at it yet but pretty sure the spring fatigued.

Sigh!!

At least you made it home

Sun, 2025-02-02 16:49

At least you made it home Jack. Oh the joys of boating.....

I'm heading down to Walpole on Tuesday with the tinny in tow, was thinking of heading across to Wilsons Inlet while I'm down that way. Do you mind giving me some tips on catching the pinks down that way.

Any info at all would be muchly appreciated as I've never fished Wisons before.

Also are there any squid or crabs worth chasing in the inlet ?

Cheers

Yeah mate, just anchor up on

Wed, 2025-02-05 15:12

Yeah mate, just anchor up on the shore side of the oyster beds near the water ski area. We did well mid morning so even better! If you end up doing ok at Walpole I'd be keen to hear as it is on my to do list.

Not many crabs around but my bro said the prawns should start coming in at night.

Thanks for the tips.

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately wind blew its arse off whole time we were down there so didnt get across to Denmark.

Only manage 1 day fishing the Franklin for a few black bream, mostly small although a couple were OK..Was just too windy to give the inlet a try.

We also hit up Denmark last

Fri, 2025-02-07 11:05

We also hit up Denmark last week and only caught PInkies.

Bag of burley, bag of mulies and around 3l of fuel had us go through around 20 pinkies, anothr 10 bust off's and three keepers with plenty around the 39-40cm.

We just went past the yellow markers of the ski zone from the caravan park boat ramp into the 4m area and it was on within minutes.

Most productive time was when one of the three of us was having a wee then all three rods went off.....
