PGFC Marlin Cup

Not sure if anyone here fished the cup last weekend, but the stats were incredible. 66 marlin raised, 39 hooked and 13 tagged. Those are crazy metro numbers. There have been whole seasons where a fraction of those numbers are reported. Must be the warm water this year.

That certainly indicates good numbers of fish about. Any more details of the size / species of fish tagged and the number of boats entered?

Hi AlanPretty much all blues
Hi Alan
Pretty much all blues I think. Most looked like typical metro fish of about 140kg upwards. I did see video of a couple of smaller ones but not small fish per se. There were 44 boats and 150 anglers registered, which is a bloody good turnout!

Thanks for the info Dave
Chasing those metro billies can a laborious exercise, been there done that. A few fish about tends to rekindle one's enthusiasm so good on those who put in the effort.

Yes I agree Alan. I've been
Yes I agree Alan. I've been lucky enough to have fish caught on about half of my metro trips. Barely makes up for the ones where you don't hear a drag or see anything all day!

I did get a little blue on
I did get a little blue on the Sunday. Only billfish we saw all weekend. Was only around 90kg or so. More little fish but much bigger numbers than most years.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Yeah like I said above
Yeah like I said above Dodgy, there were some smaller fish than we normally see metro. Numbers make up for the size.

Certainly a lot smaller and more cooperative than that one that spanked us a couple of years ago.
