cheap dinghy setup

hi guys..
over the next few months ive decided to be on the lookout for a cheap as ali dinghy and motor.
i do not have much boat experience in the past, but i am after something <$1000 (for money and storage reasons.)
i know, i know, you hardly call that a boat but itll do me for around the river for bream/crabs etc.
can someone guide me through (gently!) what i would be looking at getting for this price, or able to offer me something in that budget.
cheers

kayak fishing
You should look into kayak fishing, in your budget, easy to store, good exercise and the outboard doesn't spook the fish. I've seen some magic fish landed from kayak up here in Exxy, sure it would be good for Perth river fishing too.

Have thought about that too
I need the exercise. Would be ideal for snopping around the marinas, etc.

yeah most definately, i just
yeah most definately, i just cant justify spending that much on a hobie or similar.
if i can get a tinnie to start with, then upgrade ever so slowly if need be.
it would be alot easier if i had more money, but at 23 i would like to buy a house one day.

hey wicksey don't stress
hey wicksey
don't stress mate you can still find tinnies around that price range you just got to watch the sunday times and quokka like a hawk. I bought a 12 foot tinnie about 4 years ago with a 7.5hp Johnson outboard on a licensed trailer off an old guy who was retiring and going around Australia and got it for $1100.
It was by no means built for speed but it took me and 3 mates on many a good adventure up the river and around the esturies. I now have bought a 4m runabout for 4 grand and will look to upgrade to a 5m some time this year but that old tinnie I 1st bought was a really good starting point.
If you just want to go crabbing and bream / chopper tailor fishing then that is about all you will need anyway. Just take it easy cruising around Freo near the Left Bank. Some of the boat's that cruise through there are so big that their wake feels like the size of a 2 foot wave.
