Checking hours on 2002 Merc Saltwater Series
Submitted by dkonig82 on Tue, 2011-10-11 15:10
Hi there
This may be a ridiculously obvious question, but how do I check how many hours are on a Merc 125hp Saltwater Series engine circa 2002 model?
Is it possible? If so, do I need some sort of consult machine to plug in to it?
Cheers
Dan

When asked by a non-fisherman 'how many fishing rods do you really need?' the correct answer is either:
n+1 (where n is the number of fishing rods you currently own); or
n-1 (where n is the number of fishing rods which would cause your significant other to dump you.

maybe get a compression test
maybe get a compression test if u are wanting to buy it......as long as the compression is high and even between cylinders, should be ok!

Dan,
i just had my motor serviced and the tech gave me a full printout showing total number of hours it has run. there was also a breakdown of Rev range. ie 40 hours at 0-1000, 50 hours at 1000 -2000 etc.
There was results of diagnostic tests like compression ..
