just a query on the strength of 100lb spectra braid from ebay as to whether it is as strong as the local tackle shop sell at twice the price.?

I don't know how much your paying for that spectra mate
but it you google 'rope marine spectra' you will find a shop in south aus
$45 for 100m is the cheapest on the net and it's as strong as you will get we all use it for our speargun reels and float lines and you can't break it

Spectra is a brand name for Product made from A perticular type of fibers , much like dynex and Dyneema and Dynamica and Dynex Dux. Trusting it is made of continuous fibers you shouldn't have a problem.

Nothing wrong with it. A little bit thicker nothing to worry about,l have been using it for years. Buy the 2000 mtr roll more useful for respools.

Paulus used to provide a
Paulus used to provide a free testing service until I think he had a heart attack and looks like he decided to stop and do other things. Shame as that was a great service. Still there's some old info there that is useful

its fine
cant use it for competions though. Paulus website had the heavy weight"s (60lb +) breaking at 20% over thier stated strengh. so if you want true 100lb braid buy the 80lb.
