caught a big fat cobbler of point peron the other day , I let it go are they still a protected species or is that just in the swan river (also had know idear how to clean it)

Only protected in the swan as far as I know.
Fisheries website or google will confirm...

Swan and Canning
I believe they are totally protected in both the Swan and canning rivers.
