Decent Swell this morning
Quite a few boats parked around the leading lights between Carnac and Garden Island last night - no snapper biting by 8PM last night when I came back in.
This morning a big swell was coming through over 5FB and it was quite uncomfortable out there with the drift far too significant to catch much out deep. It started becoming calm by around 1PM, however I didn't see anyone at the boat club catch any decent fish this morning.
Hope the fishers tonight do better than me.
(I heard a 4.7m boat flipped over at Rottnest around 11AM. Everyone was okay but they were looking for help to get their boat upright again)

Yes a small inflatable overturned
Was righted fairly rapidly but don't think they got the motor restarted . Saw the swell pumping out wide and almost closing out between GI and Carnac.....in the Sound a race track it was that flat

When it's like that do you really need to go out
When the seas are like that you really should stop and think do I really need to be out there in such seas.

Two Rocks
Two Rocks Sea Rescue was heading out there to help out. Sounds like Rotto Police onto it pretty quickly and DOT Officers heading over to Rottnest to investigate as well.
Do DOT have to investigate all significant incidents on water, Sunshine? Seems like a bit of excitement over a 4.7 rubber ducky tender boat flipping over next to the island.

I was going to go out this evening but my back is still a bit sore. Going to have another crack in the morning. Got a boat load of berley on board, so hopefully I can sound up a school.

I was anchored off the wall last night, against my better judgement, but number one son wanted to see what all the excitement was about. Didn't see any fish caught along the section we were fishing ( probable reason why to follow!), but the guys that headed out between the islands had better success. Big cheerio to the absolute spud that came through about 730pm at 10-15knts BETWEEN our boat and the rock-wall ( we were anchored about 25m off , I hope you enjoyed untangling my braid from your prop you muppet.) Another clown in a ski boat felt the need to roar in and out between the gaps in the boats at pace making a hell of a racket. We all know common courtesy ain't so common any more, but those 2 efforts from a pair of oxygen thieves were just plain dumb.

Correct lights
It is amazing how many boats on the ocean at night, and moreso in the canals at Christmas time, don't even know what navigation lights they should have on at night while moving and also while anchored. As for passing boats on the wrong side and ignoring navigation markers, I'm surprised the Water Police aren't out there fining skippers - more money to be made than a hidden speed camera on a country road.

I wonder what happened to common manners and sense
Some times I look at what is happening on the water and just wonder who or what is going to save some of these bloody fools from killing themselves or poor innocent parties.
