FW Crew,
Lookina at replacing my B & W sounder in my Tinni with a Coloured model. Will spend up to a grand can anyone give me their opinion on the best value for money sounders on the market in that price range. I guess the fishing I use it most for is bottom bouncing in the 30-50 mtr mark.
Look forward to hearing your opinions,
Timboon

Lowrance HDS or Furuno 620.
Lowrance HDS or Furuno 620. Have a look at Cascade GPS on the web if you're interested in getting a Furuno from the U.S. Can get one with transducer around 1k delivered (I've used them and they are very good to deal with). I wouldn't buy Lowrance from overseas though due to their warranty.
I've had a Furuno 620 and it was brilliant. My current unit is a Lowrance 112c with broadband sounder box. Similar screen to the current HDS models. They are good, but I'd still give the edge to the Furuno.

Also lads whats the go with the tranny's for the Lowrance HDSx5, are they the through hull model or rear mount?
What power etc is most commonly used in the 30-50m range, I'm guessing the 50/200htz but i'm pretty green with the technical side of it...

transducer
most of the brands shown will come with a 600 watt tranny and a transom mount bracket , you would have to puchase or deal with the supplier to change for a through hull tranny as you cant shoot through a alli hull
