Coral Bay L/B Fishing
Submitted by EricBananaMan on Fri, 2013-12-13 15:16
Taking the wife and kids to Coral Bay next week. Besides Maud's landing for tigers, can anyone suggest any land based fishing spots for 6 and 7 year olds close to town and would lures or bait be best? I'm taking the 4x4 so access to spots shouldn't be a problem. The thought of leaving the family on land and taking a charter has crossed my mind but I may not make it out of the town alive. Cheers in advance for your thoughts.

Last time I was there was
Last time I was there was 2007. We walked south from the pub and stopped at the sign about 100m down the beach to a no fishing (north of) sign. Is that the fence line?

There are a few threads on
There are a few threads on this, one recent in the landbased section.
But with the kids I would say five fingers (abouk 3km south of boat ramp)would be good, lots of smaller stuff for the kids to have fun with and still a good cance of most bigger things (spangos, trevs) if you are lucky. Nice beach for a swim and snorkle also. Bait and lures have simmilar effect, just a little tricky with the lures around the reef. Not too many things are brave or hungry enougth ot grab surface lures down there most of the time. If not getting to much action I would stick to baits. The rocks at the boat ramp are not too bad, but best at sunset or leading upto high tide. Other places such as sandbar and the fence line south of fivefingers can be more productive but not as kid freindly. Grab a mud map from Coastal Adventure Tours office and it will have all these places on it.
But if you do feel like risking your life with the missus, you know who to call.

Sorry to say the crew are
Sorry to say the crew are goint to perth for some training towards the end of this week. So our first charter for the Christmas period will be on the 22nd od December. We mainly run only full day charters and save the half days for if we need to leave late or come in early because of tide issues. Sorry about that Eric but I hope you do well from the shore.
On a better note, the odd bonefish have started to be caught down the sandbar over the last few days. The water is now heating up really quicky so that usally make for a little more action up there.
