How's this for profiteering, my son was in Thailand (wife is Thai national)says to himself I think it might be a wise move to get back to WA now as he is a FIFO, he knows he has to do 14 day isolation no big deal.
He has a return open ticket to WA Thai air stops at Singapore and announces all off.
Hang on I've got a return ticket to Perth says son, All off says airline this is the end of the road. Son rushes over to Qantas counter for ticket home which he has to pay no refund on part of trip not full filled.
Thank you that will cost you $900 bucks one way.
Trip normally costs in the $350 - 400 range.
If you want to get back to Perth it will cost you $900 bucks.

The airline is probably making a loss on the $900 and he's extremely lucky to have an option to return to WA considering he's had a huge neon light flashing in his face to do so for the last month.
