if anyones interested..
that first photo i was taking misses and boy for cruise on swan and picked this up on -10 sensitivity, would love to know what was under boat? maybe mooring or something not sure - nothing on surface
2nd is the drop off into freo harbour
3rd somewhere out behind carnac
last 2 very hot whiting session, drop and hook

a few months
back when the whales were passing by i was out back of Rotto, had just turned the boat off and this beast of a whale surfaced from right under us .. frightened the shit out of me. I quickly looked back at the sounder and saw a very impressive arch but didnt grab my phone fast enough for a pic. We excited and shocked at what just happened, missed a really good sounder pic ! thought about after and i could have just scrolled back :()

If that was taken in Mosman Bay then it is quite likely an old mooring, some years back I came across a similar view on the sounder and finial sent down a camera to have a look at just what it was. It turned out to be an old mooring that the surface float had gone from and was had a clump of rope being held up by what looked like another float about 5 metres from the bottom.
This was about 5 - 7 years back from memory.

i reckon
your right meglodon, this was out front of black wall reach where all those moorings are, can just picture what you said, old rope covered in weed and whatever else is caught up in the tangle. Bout 3m from surface, you never know what you going to get in the swan !! ...
could be someone with concrete boots lol

Have you fished the wrecks in that area
There are a couple of old wrecked barges around that area of the river have you fished any of them lately.
