Covid tax is strong!

So in recent weeks, the plans for the next boat has taken a few steps in the right direction and yesterday, after having a look at a Genesis 700 XL (2.7m beam) getting built, i am pretty sure we are set on the size (i can lay down on the cockpit floor but the cabin space is still an issue...

Anyhoo, i entertained myself online  (get your mind out of the gutter) looking at boats and found these two.

I have seen the 950 down in Mandurah and follow on the gram. I see he has done some stuff with Explorelife on youtube. Cool boat and all but half a mill?

The 700XL would come out as a bare boat on a trailer with motor for ~85-90k. Yeah its pretty and you can get it now but shit, is there 90k of extra stuff there?

Am i off the mark or are these boats priced with only one hand for typing?

Kite flying exercise I

Fri, 2022-05-27 07:52

Kite flying exercise I reckon. I put my dinghy up for 10k last year and ended up selling it for $4k. Was happy to hold onto it but if someone wanted to pay well overs for it.... At one stage before Covid I was going to sell it to my bro without the HDS7 for $1.5k.

 Keep in mind raw ally

Keep in mind raw ally materials are up 200% in the last 12 months. As the cost of new builds goes up it drags used boats up with them.

 This and engines across all

Fri, 2022-05-27 08:35

This and engines across all manafacturers have already had two price increases this year alone with more to come as manafacturing and shipping costs continue to rise.

When you put pen to paper all the added costs and allow for price increases as each manfacturer and dealer currently have when signing up to a new boat within the clauses of their contracts, I wouldnt bank on thinking youll come out a heap cheaper..

 Seen these two boats and

Seen these two boats and they look amazing. Dreams of mine. I saw a reefy pop up the other day (not sure if anyone on here) popped up for 66k. 2hrs later another not as good popped up for 74k ol mate upped his to 75k. Same boat popped up at a stealership week later asking 85k. Anyone can throw numbers on something if they don't need to sell. Doesn't mean that's what it's worth. If anyone wants a seadoo fish pro I have one for $296k ono. Worlds gone crazy.

 Both great boats mate but

Both great boats mate but $475k is a huge amount of money for a fishing boat/weekender IMO. The Genesis looks to have a fair bit of fruit and we know how that stuff can really add up quickly. It's building a house - you need $100k and upwards to "finish it off".

"finish it off" over time and dont count the money. that way you feel like you got a good deal and get to use the boat in the meantime...

 That will be my plan.

Wife has great dreams but trusting it floats, the water stays on the outside and we can get to places, it will be done enough for the time being.
