Crab scoop for kids

Hi everyone,
I've got the day off tomorrow and was thinking about taking the niece and nephew out for a scoop in the morning before school starts up next week. It'll be their first time scooping for crabs and the little girl is on the small side for a 4 year old. I'm a bit worried she won't be able to handle the weight of a regular scoop even after I cut the handle nice and short for her. Does anyone know if there are any plastic versions around or alternative options for her? I'm sure the boy can handle the metal versions, he's 7, or 7 & 3/4 according to him!
Thanks.

Honestly I don't think she
Honestly I think she would probably be right, once the scoop is in the water it won't be too bad. Maybe cable tie a couple of little floats near the head just to take some of the weight out of it one its in the water. There's rules about the number of wires & spacing on crab scoops, probably best not to mess with them too much.
Just because I smile & nod does not mean I believe the crap coming out of your mouth.

crabbing
City flicker is right about the rules. My 4 year old granddaughter was given a butterfly net by some kind lady in the car park when we went crabbing. While we crabbed, the 4 year old was catching prawns out of the air with the butterfly net. She got more than enough for a feed for me. This was at Mandurah. Enjoy the little ones while you can, they grow up all too fast.

Turns out I didn't even have
Turns out I didn't even have to worry about it. My sister failed to tell me that her daughter is terrified of going into the water so she stayed home. On the plus side, my nephew had a blast, wants to have another go next weekend. He's determined to get one he can keep!
