Submitted by Oracle on Sun, 2013-03-31 09:17
Hi all,
looks like a get a few hours to take my young fellas for a crab this arvo. Just want to make it worth the time and moer fun for him. Anyone know if the river or the sound is the best place to drop nets this time of year?
Appreciate any help
Thanks

Id prob be droppin them deep in the swan, mozzies or blackwall for instance
I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Crabs
As Tim-o said and the deeper water stuff in the Sound has been good also but often you just have to keep on moving around to get results.

Here's an uneducated guess
I normally hang around Mosmans and drop between 5-20 meters to test whats around. Normally come home with a good dozen or so. The last two trips (2 weeks ago then yesterday) have come up with stuff all.
My uneducated guess is that once the rains start, the crabs piss off into the sound and out of the fresh water flushing through the river.
Lovely arvo to be on the water, but def head back into the sound for me.
