Cray pot maintenance

I plan to take my jarrah / pine steel base pots out of the water later this week and wondered if there was anything I should be doing to them and the ropes other than hosing them down with fresh water and drying prior to storing for next year.

Can take one of those green scouring pads out and run the rope though that while winching up. Think some people chlorine dip their ropes but this seemed to work well enough. I wait for them to dry out and then hit them with a pressure cleaner on the front lawn. Think the slime comes off easier after they dry out.

once home , i like to do the
once home , i like to do the following
make sure all bait baskets are empty ,
scrub off the timber with a large coarse brush , just to remove algae , sand and shite thats built up on them
then give me a good wash down with clean water , high pressure if you want
fix any damaged battens or frames , wood is easier to work with while it is still wet & soaked , nails easier etc
then let me dry for a week , then store away out of sunlight in the shed ,with gluts inbetween them if stacking on each other
direct sun will destroy pine very quickly , so dont leave em out in the yard till next season with pine , or you will be replacing battens etc
ropes can be chlorine soaked , then clean washed and stored the same out of sunlight ,

My ropes are seriously slimed up this year. Do you soak them in neat chlorine or diluted? Duration?

We used to chlorinate them on the run
When I was crayfishing, have the rope coming off the winch straight into the bucket. We found that if you made the solution very strong, you would just stuff up your hands and bleach the slime. A weaker solution would still kill the weed. if you are doing it on land, and leaving them out in the sun, you don't need a strong solution at all, just dip, leave out in the sun for a day, fresh water hose down.

yep as ranmar says above , i mix up a weak solution and soak for a day floats and all , then wash with clean water m dry and put away ,
fill up water first then add small amount of chlorine ,, dont add water to chlorine its not recommended
