Cray pots

Gday all,has anyone tried the steel fold up cray pots? And if so is there catch rate any good? Thinking they may stay put better in the stronger currents and swells without putting a ton of ballast in them. Cheers for any feedback

Yep tried them now gone back to slates ... great for travel quick and easy to set up but after a season they break down ... weight wise only good for close inshore . Cheers

My brother made a 316 stainless pot killed it until someone wanted it more . I’ve looked at fold up ones . They look the goods . There would be not drag on them( wood) I would think less wait required ( due to no wood) . Be about placement more than anything . They look good .crayfish are not smart

 I think I'll grab a couple

I think I'll grab a couple and give them a go. I tend to put them in spots that aren't too rough so they should be fine.

Do they need extra ballast

I see they weigh about 20kg baited.  Plenty of water flow through the mesh.

Cheers that's what I'm after, less resistance against the water, can be quite a bit of swell and water movement where I plan to try them. Hoping for some good size fighters

They have some on Gumtree, a mate bought some last week, however I don't think they are the most current model.
