Creek Session
Well unfortunately the wind didn't play the game this weekend and I was stuck in drydock. Twiddling my thumbs got boring after a while so late this arvo I hooked up with Kane and headed down Beadon Creek to see if we could find a fish or two. The weather and water has started to warm up noticeably in the last few weeks and theres been a corresponding increase in bait and surface activity. Kane enjoys his bait fishing and he proceeded to pick up a few bream and a good cod. Lure chucking is my preferred forte however and I proceeded to prospect along the rock wall. What followed was a great session as I nailed some small trevs, queenies, a couple of unexpected giant herring and a cracker jack (his brother took my lure home so the jack situation worked out even). Here's a few pics.

Nah mate, just down around the Beadon Rock groyne. Plenty of jacks live along there (you can see them when snorkelling along), but catching them is another matter.

snorkeling
Don't know about snorkeling in there John, what with the Stonefish, Muddies, and rumours of rare crocs about - I'd constantly be checking for missing body parts!
It really amazed me how a little tidal creek like Beadon and 4mile (drain really) can hold so much life (and muddies!)
Can't say the same for the ashburton though... all I got there was a fanclub of midgies

Well fed
I just keep telling myself everything up here is to well fed!
Haha
James got circled fairly intensely (10 rotations, getting smaller each time) by a 7-8 foot shark out near Long Island but that's been our only interested Noah so far (touch wood). Mind you he doesn't stray far from me and the spear gun now though!

Top Jack, John.
That's a beaut Jack, did he crack the magical 50? Those Giant herring didn't mess around scoffing those lures all the way down. Good stuff John>
Cheers, Daisy

Awesome Jack John!

Yep
A 60cm jack is my target for the marina this year, a solid solid fish that will take some stopping and is very unlikely, but you gotta be in it to win it. Well done BJ.
