Can also see the pics on fb, Boxy from yardie creek boat tours posted them too. The car was towed out to the south side, i saw a tilt tray tow truck heading out when leaving today which i can only assume was for this.
You have to be mad to even try getting accross. If the tide is coming in at all it is like quicksand you sink down to your knees when you walk the tinny out. On a real low tide you could drive out and around the main creek entrance where it is harder.
bet the tilt tray driver loved that, meant he had to go around the Ningaloo Station track and up the coast track, 57k's of hell, instead of just driving down bitumen all the way to the north side of the creek. Been a few years now since it has been a generally useable crossing--it was passable at low tide in July 2010, just straight across the usual track line on rocks, in 2011, you had to detour down near the mouth but good drive across rocks, and just basically unuseable since. May be it's just because I'm the sort of person who doesn't believe in driving through salt water up to the doors? That's what hire vehicles are for. I know that from 1987 to 1998 the crossing was continuously dry, at least every July. It irks now to have to go around the long way every time you need to go to town for stores and fuel. And please, don't ask me why I don't go to Coral Bay--the hard part is getting out to the bitumen, and I'd rather drive further up to Exmouth, than go down to that sh****le Coral Bay.
The tilt tray driver was at waddys this morning and did mention he had to go the long way around to get him and wasnt looking forward to doing it. There was another 4 wheel drive on one of the other tilt trays today that looked like it had been for a swim. I think all the mechanics in town now have there own tilt tray trucks for recoveries.
Those blokes are mad. Some of the things they do with the huge 6m Ali boat on the trailer too is insane. Would even think to do half the stuff they do.
