Daiwa heartland Z or Battler
Submitted by lighterthief on Fri, 2007-01-05 18:31
Just curious if anyone out there have fished with either of these rods and how you rate them? Had a look at some Battlers( taurus, kingbolt) and z's yesterday and pretty much straight away realised i have to get one, just not sure which one..
Any advice or opinion would be greatly appreciated, particularly if there are better rods in that price range..
cheers

I've got a Heartland Z, its practically my gotto rod as an all rounder. Ive got the Finesse Special model and matched to a TD Sol 2500. Cant go wrong with the TD Battlers as well. They're a step up from the Z.

yeh your right... but mine
yeh your right... but mine is setup correctly and your using a completely different rod???.Found out through another forum the first guide on the nitro bream rods are too far up the blank which apparently is what makes them not so good at casting long distances, ive seen shorter rods with 6lb braid cast light lures (3-5g) a lot further.. apart from casting its a great rod but still i need another one :)

You'll find different rods
You'll find different rods have different actions and requires different casting style. My Z is 6'3" 2-4kg and has a medium to fast action and requires abit of weight to cast it. Its also much stiffer than your Nitro. Your Nitro has a extra fast action. Also match the size of your reel to the sizes of your stipper guide. I run a larger than most reels becoz I have a fairly large stripper guide. Ive tried smaller reels, ie 2000 size and it throws loops and tangles.
Nowadays 1pc or 2pc makes no difference.
Altho we dont stock the 2 daiwa rods, we have Shimano T-Curve Flight rods with really nice actions. Check them out.
