Darwin Charter - What to chase???
Submitted by mw87 on Sat, 2012-05-05 21:20
Hi all,
Heading up to Darwin for the first time in 2 weeks and after searching through previous posts I have spotted a few recommended charters to go out with. The dilemma is we only have time to do one day trip before heading home and are undecided on weather to go for Black Jew offshore or Barra in the creeks... Not a bad dilemma to have thats for sure!
It seems the end of the wet season is pretty good for Barra, so maybe around now? And not sure on the Jews...
Any opinions on what would be the better choice for this time of year to help make our minds up and make the most of our trip..?
Cheers!

darwin charters
if your only doing a day trip out of the harbour i would target the jews! done three one day barra trips with different guides from the harbour and whilst we caught fish! most only just size the action was fairly slow! on the other hand the jew trip i done was shit hot!! i would recommend http://www.arafurablue.com.au/ but not sure about the timing though! so i would give them a call

Cheers for the heads up
Cheers for the heads up mate. Arafura is our choice for Jews, it seems they are highly recommended from a lot of guys. I thought maybe if I gave them a call they might just tell me what I want to hear to get the business though...

arafura blue
go chase the jews/macks/snappers out wide. Its starting to get a bit cool for hot barra action but who can say, it was still raining at the start of the week and the east/south aligator rivers have been producing this week for barra
this time of year i put the barra gear away and go blue when its not so rough get a bit sick. But landbased on all our boat ramps and rock walls wharf and jettys produce fish on their day.
a couple of years ago around this time i boated a nice black marlin on arafura blue while pitching pillies to mackies
