Deep trip today
Submitted by southcity104 on Fri, 2010-10-01 21:09
Some great weather meant we headed out to explore some of the deeper contours. Found some great fish on baits and even better on jigs. A mixed bag of fish coming to the boat, red & pink snappers, sambos, 7 bar cod, flathead, rat tuna, and those bloody green eyed sharks.

the grey banded cant be
the grey banded cant be released as they wont survive, thats the reason they took the max size off them. plus they are great eating , why throw them back

Was a great trip out deep,
Was a great trip out deep, the sounder just hung in for a little detail on the bottom.
The grey-barred really liked jigs and the damn cheeky 500mm tuna were taking 450mm jigs on the way up.
Tony's snapper was exceptionally fat across the back, I really should've gotten a profile shot of it.
Damn those grey-barred are slimy and that skin is tougher than horse leather!
We met some nice guys on another boat called Reel Obsession, a Kevlacat 2400. They a little better than us boating a bigger cod, but I was a little distracted on a sambo at the time. If you're one of those guys and you're reading this say hi!

I've heard the green eyed sharks
leave jigs alone. Can anyone vouch for that? They are a damn nuisance with baits.

The tanacom..
performed well. I was being very gentle as it was it first use and was testing the rod to reel combo. The rod is a 24kg ugly stick platium which i bought cheap to get me outa trouble once. The reel i hope to use for retrieval of line and sounding for fish.
caught those greeneyes on jigs regularly.
Yeh pete i could squeeze one in.?
