Denham Xmas

 hi all,

heading to Denham and the surrounds with the family on Thursday for a couple of weeks. i have researched up a heap info on here which is great and a huge thanks to members on this site always being willing to share and help...really great.

i'm checking to see if anyone has headed out to Cape Peron recently and any current feedback in regards to conditions, things to watch out for etc..

i am fairly experienced in 4x4 terrain and have a standard Ranger Wildtrak (not precious with it...happy to bash a bit), so thinking capabilities are ok. the only thing i'm cautious about is the wife and 2 kids.

i'm only thinking of a day trip out that way for a bit of adventure (and a fish!).

appreciate any feedback and hope i can actually post something with a fish in it.

Cheers

Out there recently. You shouldn't have a problem mate. Just let your tyres down and enjoy. The majority of the track is good, the worst part is usually from around Cattlewell through to Bottle Bay. We tow a tinny in there and have seen a plate ally on a tandem get in there. That was winter though. Enjoy

Have driven my ford ranger up

Have driven my ford ranger up there around 4 times, track varies with some areas slightly more boggy in sections. Let your pressure down and take it easy. Will be windy on the Denham side, Monkey Mia side will have some shelter, there wont be many others on the track that side, make sure you bring recovery gear.

Shallow water that side with mainly bream and flathead.
Oysters at low tide on the rocks. If it's calm on the Denham side Bottle bay is good for fishing towards the end of the bay.

Hi mate. We stayed at bottle Bay between Xmas and new year a few years back and had a ball, the track between the salt flats and bottle Bay is the only bit to look out for it was very soft like talcum powder, but we had no trouble towing a 4 mtr tinny in. We even caught spotted mac, s of the beach with chrome slices.

Has had the usual 25 knot S/Westers in each day for the last week and don't expect it to change soon unless the cyclone stir things up a bit and gives us a bit of a trough over the coast
