Dhu Recapture

Wanted to have a quick plastic session early this morning before the footy. Invited Timvb as he was keen to learn some new techniques.

Headed to some ground I fished in late August. First drop resulted in a Dhu... and the same Dhu I caught late August. Tag Number 55753. I loaded up the release weight & sent him back down... again.

I'll hit the same ground up after the ban.

We got Dhu's & pinkies this morning.

Oh, SBT's are everywhere at the moment. Double hook ups every 50 meters.

Daz.

They obviously hang around for awhile, the PGFC Tuna Tournament is in in mid Nov, and thats the middle of the ban.

Bloody YFT ... but not so

Sun, 2010-09-26 11:57

Bloody YFT ... but not so sure.

IIRC Rhyss mentioned that last year people were pretty busy with SBT and stripers off Rotto, although I remember a bigeye caught off OR/Mindarie somewhere too.

I honestly can't remember any YFT being caught during the last comp.

Wouldn't be much of a comp

Sun, 2010-09-26 11:59

Wouldn't be much of a comp if you're just getting truck loads of jelly bean sized tuna.

Top stuff Daz. Agree there's some more support for careful handling and the release-weight.

Pulled up a Dhuie I tagged a month ago in the same location of Geraldton, only about 30m from where I last caught it. Started tagging Dhuies 3 months ago and this is the second recapture the first was in 36mtres, this one was in 20mtres, release waits must have some positive effect.
