Steep Point trip Nov 2010

Hey guys, just thought i would post up some pics from a recent trip to Steep Point in November. The fishing started out a bit slow due to the howling winds for the first couple of days but after that the weather was pretty good for the rest of the week and the fishing was the same.

We got these mackies on our first fish of the trip in the first 200m of trolling, the double hookup made it very interesting. Talk about a good start!! They went approx 10kg each

Just one of several night fishing trips that paid off big time, pinkies and spangoes being the main catch.

A couple of beauties caught on an afternoon session

We also picked up a fair few small tuna that worked like dynamite as bait!

This Yellow Fin Tuna was caught trolling the west side of the point on one of the calmest days ive ever seen up there, it pulled the scales down to 12kg

And a beautiful arvo in the bay

Cant wait for the next trip, cheers for checking it out.

Yeah was a great trip, lol i didnt even notice those stubbies in the pic. It was lucky the weather turned around because the drinks were dissapearing very quickly with no fishing getting done :) Mark79 lets just say if the company in question rings about the warranty on the shelter, the wind was a breeze at the most!! Fishnut we did tow the boats in, theyre 4.65 and 4.75 meter boats. Wouldnt want to tow anything much bigger than that in but have seen some boats that would of touched 5.5-6meters get towed in before, aslong as you take it easy on the corrugations and prepare the trailer well it should be no worries. Hope the next trip is sooner than later.

Sounds like a good trip. Jeez u would of loved both reels screaming within the 1st 200m of trolling, would of left a smile on ur face for the whole trip! Would of been a bit of a mission towing the boats in!? I considerd towing mine in there once but woosed out coz i didnt wana get it scratched haha. Looks like it paid off for use though, well done!

sounds like a great trip.

we towed in a 4.2m tinny a couple of years back and I would never do it again.  I cringied at every bump and every sand dune I had to tow it up.  Ended up loosing one whole complete mud guard off the trailer due to the corrugations.  The boat made things very difficult, the sand was so soft, it hadn't rained in about 3 months.  I would drive a boat around next time for sure.

Steep Point-  hell of a place, can't wait to get back there, it awesome.  Every Fisho needs to experience it
