Bored today. Got some great bait. Skinned heads out this time , rather than throwing them away. Fantastic bait. Normally can't be bothered. They never go slimy or get water pockets in them.

Heads are unreal
Bait. Only figured out today how to do properly.normaly chop them off and in bin. Kept a few last few trips . Stays on good . Doesn't bubble. Doesn't go sllimy. Bit thicker than squid. Best of all stays on hook.

I always skin heads for bait also tenderize and dice n fry up. Burley all the waste, no waste in all my catches.

jeez, we always kept the heads
Caught a lot when we were crayfishing, cut heads half off to kill, left on body. Very good bait, wetliners always wanted them included.

Good going John , got a tub
Good going John , got a tub of bony herring last night with the square hooks . Do any of you guys have success with them ? ive only used them a few times mostly catch mullet.

i have heard they work well.
i have heard they work well. run the knife down both fillets removing the backbone. leave fillets attatched to the head. on snelled rig top hook through the head and bottom hook through one fillet only leaving the other side flapping around. have done the same with small herring

Only reason I like occy/cuttlefish I don't get sambos .i hate them. I have no dought any bait works in certain situations. It's what your comfy with.or what you trust in for bait. :)

So you reckon sambos like a fish bait more ? I hate m as well mate ,rarely catch them. My usual baits r squid mulies cuttlefish and the odd whole parrot fish. Target fish dhu and pinks.
