Dirk hartog

Made a post a few months ago about a trip coming up to Whitnell Bay at Dirk hartog

Unfortuntely a couple of the other boats have pulled out so we are thinking of another idea.

Possibly Shelter bay area near steep point.

Just wondering if any one can tell me if there is much difference in fishing conditions and species to target from the northern end of DHI to the southern??

Probably spend 7-10 days up there, and will drive the boat over from Denham with one other boat, and a couple tinnys will be towed in.

Anyone fished that way before??? is it possible to still target trout, rankins, Reds out from the southern end of DHI? Obviously along with the pelagics.

Cheers guys any info would be good!!

plenty of fish full stop anywhere around there from what i have been told. not just pinks in close , you would also get some nice bluelined as well . good luck with the trip and hope to see plenty of great pics. the only prob i can see from there would be the wind as there wouldnt be a whole lot of shelter from it

if you want the best bait

if you want the best bait around, go to the beach early morning and catch a heap of those ghost crabs. they should be running around. if not then dig up the holes on the beach. if you follow the holes down then youll come across the crab. there wicked for groper, cod and baldie and pretty much anything else.

cool thanks for the info.

Most bait we will be able to catch, weather it be small fish, or tuna, mackie, all good bait!!

Just dont want to go all that way to catch snapper all the time, as we get them down here. Prefer to target fish which pretty much dont exist down this way.
