What's everyones preferred method, What method best retains the quality ?
Dispatching fish with a sharp point ?
Straight on Ice or Ice slurry ?
Wet Hessian bag ?
Bucket of water ?
Bleed the fish ? which types of fish should be bled ?

i kill the the fish with a sharp point right thought the brain, then cut its throat and put on ice in a eski, then keep looking at it to make sure it has not gone anywhere esle lol.

oh and as for storing fish
oh and as for storing fish speak to dave at extreme cooler and get your self a cryvac machine and that will keep your fish nice and fresh in the freezer.

knife
knife to the head to brain it, then stick the knife just next to the pectroail fins into the gills ( soft part olds a vein, bit higher up for demserals) on both sides then left in water to bleed, then gutted gilled and put onto ice bags. thats usaully what i do and i dont get any problem with blood in the meat or blood clotting and always taste beautiful :)

All fish get spiked then straight in to an ice slurry and with sharks, they get cleaned then in to the slurry when down south but don't bother with them up here, just cut them off.

Iki Jimi, crack the neck and slurry it IDEALLY. if I cant use a slurry, necked in a bucket of water. Replace the water frequently.

I can never , ever seem to get the spike in the brain. (should put some hair round it really).
moving towards dumping into ice slurry for a few mins , then when quiet , cut throat latch and bleed out.
If I spent half as long fishing , as I do reading this bloody forum , I'd be twice the fisherman I am.

After much trying this is the best way I have found..
Spike, bleed, ice slurry (ice with sea water), once filleted wash in SEA WATER (I bring a bucket of sea water back with me on the boat), dry on a rack of some sort then vacuum seal. Keeps the best for the longest IMHO.

I pulled a 1.4 gummie 3 kms off north mole.Cut the fins and head off but left the guts in it!All that meat wasted.Strong odour of ammonia through the meat..

Big mistake
You can leave all the fins and head on, they don't do anything , but the GUTS and the brown strip behind it down the spine have to come out as soon as you bring it on board , that is if you like eating quality shark.
