I actually have a rig where I have an 8/0 hook with a smaller size 1 or 2 hook wired up to it so it’s hanging off the bend of the big hook. If the pickers are bad, I drop that down with the small hook baited, hook up a picker, usually a wrasse, instant live bait. That’s caught dhues when nothing else would.

had similar but running 2/0
had similar but running 2/0 snelled. a wrasse grabbed the top hook and a nice dhuie went after the wrasse and hooked up on the bottom hook. Dhuie candy at its best,
