Dongara Info

Howdy All,
I'm heading up to Dongara for a few days over the school holidays (oh how my life has changed....) Any one got any tips for places to go in general. Plus any fishing tips (locations/styles) would be appreciated.
Cheers,
Soupster

Dongara

Hey mate, have heard reports and seen a few pics of some good mullas about lately.  Anywhere along the beach north of the rock wall fishing platform has potential.  River is getting high, so may break soon.  Always bream in the harbour to have done fun with too, and plenty of good bycatch to keep you guessing.

Flicking lures along the rock wall platform for tailor on sunset usually does alright too if they're around.

All the best!

good spots to fish

the corner of the rock wall near the big 4 caravan park is good for all sorts . Seven mile beach north of dongara is good too. south beach isnt much chop for fishing but is a great place for a lazy day swimming and taking it easy.

a day trip to ellendale pool isnt  to bad either. its about 20 mins from dongara heading toward Gero.

its a great area enjoy your break.

Just got back from a Dongara trip.

1 sunrise trip to 9 mile... weed big problem lost a lot of tackle.  some small rock species of unknown lineage.  we were fishing between two of those roack/reef platforms... swell was too big to fish off the platforms themselves.  Probabaly should have headed to the north a few hundred metres but 7 blokes takes a lot of shifting.  Big swell that day too.

1 sunrise trip to South Beach... got a small mulla (species 1st), some dart, but we didn't go south enough as high tide/narrow beach.  Saw some guys filleting massive tailor but they'd gone around the corner and fished off some weed banks.

1 evening fish off the marina southern/western rockwall.  I thought the reef/rocks finished earlier than they did so lost some gear, then nothing going when I did get free of rocks.

the last night went 10pm to just after midnight off the other rockwall by the platform, but again nothing happening for me or the other couple of blokes in and around there.  I should have had less weight to be honest but was fairly drunk when decided to head down:)

So all in all another holiday fishing disaster.  But will not deter me.

CRIKEY though - those blowies at the fishing platorm in the day time are enough to make you feel ill.  Pretty challenging to have much fun with the kids with all those blowies around.
