I was the same, picked up some poppers from Tim and Muzz, Angry Steve not on shift thank f#ck ;) and picked up 6 whiting over the weekend, couldn't crack more than one each session unfortunately. Need to get the ski out to some not-so-much-fished flats on the east side of the estuary. I can't believe how aggressive they are, one whiting took the popper a second time after I had just pulled the hooks on him the cast before, and another time one fish was trying to take the lure from another fishes mouth. Its like salmon season has come early :)
Stop your bringing a tear to my eye.Jody is just giving you all a head start, and then she will swoop.god help those poor dhuies when she does get on the water I don,t go back to work until the 7th so I'm sure we will get you on the fish .
Jody I now have gone FIFO from Parkridge ( Bouvard) to Kcity. So possibly the best of both worlds. Never fished for Whiting in the estuary.
Do you find that they hold on most off the flats, or as beau said more on the Pinnie side. Would love to give this a go as I would tick something else off the fishing possibilities.
At my vintage have tried lots of things, including poppering for whiting in Exxy, but not down south.
I think theyre in bigger numbers over that side. I've still been catching then around dawesville just walking up a 500m stretch of flats casting to the weed line. With the right gear its a hell of a lot out fun
wonder how they would go with Estuary worms. I have a special work pump/sucker that is different from the Yabbie sucker pumps use over east. Bloody good for getting big long worms just infront of the Lepricorn shop. These arent blood worm but look like them. I would suspect the whiting will go nuts over this.
Not as much fun as poppers, but might get a feed of these tasty suckers.

Luv the singles Paul, find they get leverage against the lure with the trebles and get off otherwise

I am, as I've said, merely competent. But in an age of incompetence, that makes me extraordinary.

Peel
IMO they are everywhere, kazillions of them.
Ankle deep water with tide flow . Bit of wind on the surface helps as well, disguises the lure a bit more

Where I've been catching my whiting the blowies are pretty bad, so bait is definitely a no-go. Not sure if its the same at other spots though
