Double Dhuy Delight
Went out west of the cape for a fish yesterday with Harro. The day started out a bit slow but after a few moves managed to find a couple of fish. Harro had a solid hookup that turned out to be a cracking double header of dhuys.
The day for me was spent jigging with my new outfit. It was a bit slow most of the day with only a couple of knocks and one sergeant baker until we were just about home. Harro decided to have a quick look at a spot in the bay where he has occasionally caught pinkies. When we arrived at the spot the sounder was showing a solid school of baitfish. First drop for me resulted in a nice jigged dhuy on a Shout Stay.
Great way to break in the new rod and reel. After releasing the fish we struggled to get another bite so we called it a day. Thanks for a top day Harro. It always good to let someone else skipper for a change.

Well done sounds like a great day out and a few nice fish there. Not a bad way to christen the combo...gotta love the 'last cast of the day' type hookups. :-)
Plenty of space in my freezer if you need somewhere to keep the fillets?

So Brendan.. when you gonna make up for that trip that didn't happen for the comp? I was all excited about some deep water jigging action! Nice dhu's there too! The gold stay did the damage hey? Grabbed one of them the other day but am yet to use it.

It was a 100g red and gold
It was a 100g red and gold stay. Caught quite a few dhuys on this jig now. Also had good sucess on the red and gold zest. This colour seems to work well just before dusk. I have got a coulpe of caprice kids on the way that I'm hanging to try. Heard they work well on the demersals. One fish that I haven't managed to jig yet is a pinky. Any suggestions on jig type and colour?

That's the only snapper I've gotten on jig so far so can't give you much more advice than that. Definately love the caprice's tho, awesome flutter and flash.

Oh yeah baby!!
my drought has ended, just before this hookup I was busted of big time twice!!!, the big bucks are there for our next trip, dokie mate i reckon we give that school a bash we saw in the bay, I reckon there were dhuies aswell, that released one spooked them maybe,that was the first time out wide on my boat for a while now , your fillets are here dokie!!
