Easter L/W at Cervantes

G'day All,

took my tinny and headed up to Cervantes for the last 4 days.

First 2 days were solo...found some good lumps in 45m which produces heaps of 45-50cm baldies, heaps of 50-60cm dhu's and a couple of thumper 50cm blackass.

On the last day found a lump in 40m and pulled 2 bigger dhuies off 7kg & new PB 11.5kg off and got bricked by 2 much bigger dhuie's which broke through 120lb leader easily!!

Had a good trip with plenty of fish!

Heres a couple of snaps!!

Sam, Stop depressing me...

Sam,

Stop depressing me... What's the boat launching facilities like up there - do they have decent ramps or is it a beach launch?

Did you throw any lures out the back at any stage?

I was up there a few months

Mon, 2009-04-13 08:48

I was up there a few months back. Its a beach launch but the sand is very hard and drops off really fast. Tide was out, the trailer's spine had bottomoed out on the dropoff and back wheels of the ute weren't even in the water!

Yeh was a good w/e and good to get plenty of fish.

Bodie, comfortably do it in 2.5-3hrs...but a bigger boat like yours i would allow 3-3.5hrs

Paul, its beach launch as Jamie said, the sand is rock hard and there is 7m+ boats launched there easily everyday.

Could have almost pulled my boat out in 2WD it's that easy.

Cheers,
Sam

Paul, that was the last rig

Mon, 2009-04-13 15:12

Paul, that was the last rig left in my rigging wallet...its just typical patnoster rig with 2 droppers with 2 snelled tianawa hooks on each dropper.

I usually use snelled 6/0 gama big bait circles but had lost all my rig in the previous days!

it's beach launch there mate

Cheers,
Sam

Congrats Sam, you certainly have the knack of getting good fish!!  I think you'd have to be one of the most consistent performers on FW.
