Easter Salmon

Headed down to Hoptoun for 2 day over easter with the hope of some salmon. I knew it would be busy down there but was in shock to find all the car parks full, and the beaches packed with fisho's on sat. (later found out the fishing comp was on )

So i headed east until i found a beach with no one fishing. Ended up at East Munglinup half way to Esperance.

Found a nice gutter about 1 km up the beach and started a burley trail going. After an hour i had not even caught a herring  and nearly gave up.

Then a very soft bite turned into a solid hook up and i soon had a 3kg salmon on the sand. It went off after that and i landed 10 salmon from 3kg to 5kg within 2 hours. I kept 3 of the smaller ones  for a feed and let the rest go and left them on the bite.

I must say i'm pretty fussy when it comes to eating fish, but we cooked them up on the bbq and they were great, every one was full and none wasted.

I fished the next day at the five mile but it was very slow. My mated got busted up by some large sharks, landed a skippy and a big buff bream but that was all. It just seemed to shut down, not even a herring.

Hope ya like the vid, cheers Grant..

cool little vid, every year about salmon time i hear about people chasing and spotting schools

on the west coast ,which is good ,but usually our salmon fishing pans out just like yours,

south coast gutters ,high tide ,no big schools ,just resisdent or lost salmon, just small handfuls

at a time. Its just as much fun, without the crowds. So new starters you dont have to see salmon before you catchm.

Really liked the vid, looks like a lot of fun!

Any chance you could tell me what software you used to make the video at all? Wish mine were that good!

Thanks guys, was a great little sesh ,  Agree with quadfisher , beach to my self ,nice gutter and some burley makes for good salmon hunting.

I couldn't see the salmon in the water until half way thru the sesh, when they started to zip up the shore wash grabbing bits of mulie i dropped.

mannablue, i use Corel Video Studio Pro x 3. It's not bad to use but i think there up to Pro x 5 now. Lots more functions and handles most formats.

Cheers Grant :)
